Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Mongolia

Born in Ankara in 1975, Ambassador Ateş graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences of the Ankara University in 1997 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the same year.

His professional career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs includes the following assignments:

- 1997-1998: Department of Multilateral Economic Affairs.

- 1999-2000:Department of Protocol.

- 2000-2002:Third Secretary at the Turkish Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam.

- 2002-2005:Third and Second Secretary at the Turkish Embassy in Canberra, Australia.

- 2005-2007:Second and First Secretary, Energy Department.

- 2007-2011:Counsellor at the Turkish Permanent Delegation to the OECD, Paris.

- 2011-2014:Head of the Environment and Climate Change Department.

- 2014-2017:Consul-General in Deventer, the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

- 2017-2021:Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Director General for Energy andMultilateral Transport.

- Present:Turkish Ambassador to Mongolia.

In the last 15 years, Mr. Ateş was in charge of portfolios mainly about energy, environment, climate change and multilateral transport issues. He represented Turkey both at bilateral and multilateral levels and attended numerous meetings, conferences and events in these fields.

He speaks English.

He is married and has a 15-year-old son.
